Lt. Cmdr. Robin Bonomi, M.D., Ph.D., U.S. Navy Medical Corps, joined DARPA’s Defense Sciences Office (DSO) as a program manager in January 2026.

Her research interests include neuroimmune modulation, precision psychiatry, and molecular imaging technologies for brain-based behavioral health risk prediction and prevention. Her work integrates translational neuroimaging, clinical psychiatry, and advanced analytics for psychiatric outcomes in civilian and active-duty military populations.

Prior to joining DARPA, she served as psychiatrist and inpatient medical director at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. She led a clinical research team that studied active-duty suicide prevention initiatives and led multiple large-scale imaging projects leveraging positron emission tomography (PET) to understand trauma-induced neural changes.

She has received awards recognizing her academic work from the National Institute of Mental Health, the Society of Biological Psychiatry, and the American Psychiatric Association. She has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and continues to serve on editorial boards for several psychiatric and translational research journals.

Bonomi is board certified in psychiatry and maintains active clinical licensure. She holds active faculty appointments at Yale University and Uniformed Services University. Her ongoing research supports military medical readiness, bridging fundamental neurobiology, clinical application, and operational performance.
