Meet the Executive Board


The Executive Board helps to meet the objectives of the Society by fostering the science and progress of psychiatry in all branches of the military and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS), in cooperation with and as a constituent part of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), to serve as an influence toward the maintenance of high professional and administrative standards thereto related, and to assist the APA in promoting its aims and objectives.

President

Chief executive officer of the Society. The President presides all meetings of the membership and of the Council.

Vice President

Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer overseeing all committee functions, managing selection and presentation of Society awards, and coordinating the Society’s annual meeting. In the absence of the President, shall perform the duties of the President.

Secretary

The Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of all meetings of the District Branch and of the Council; keep a list of all members; issue notices of all meetings; notify officers and members of committees of their election or appointment; and certify all official records.

Treasurer

Conduct business in accordance with the Society bylaws, have charge of all funds, collect dues, pay all expenses of the Society, manage the Society’s investments, make an annual report to the Society on the official transactions of income and expenditures of the Society at a specified meeting, and sign all checks of the Society.

Assembly Representative

This officer shall represent the Society in the APA Assembly and/or its subgroups and at all official meetings of the Association, and report back to the Society. The number of Assembly Representatives shall be determined by APA rules based on total SUSP membership
